Smart Community – 智慧社區


Smart Community

Asian Development College for Community Economy and Technology (adiCET) aims to create the ASEAN Green Community Model through research and development of green technologies. Our research projects are supported by national and international organizations, such as Thailand Ministry of Energy, National Research Council of Thailand, Energy Regulatory Commission, Office of Naval Research – USA, and APEC Secretariat.


Smart Community is the model community for sufficient living by integrating Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and sustainable energy concept. There are 5 cycles of sustainability: Energy, Food, Residence, Economy and Environment.


1.Energy cycle emphasizes on self-reliance energy production from various natural resources, such as solar energy, biogas, and biomass energy by using smart grid to manage electricity production and consumption in community. In addition, there are activities for energy conservation and behavior adaptation for energy consumption

in the Smart Community.


2.Food cycle

starts from growing organic vegetables for consumption in the Smart Community. The excess vegetables are sold to the nearby communities and applied the green logistics concept.

Low Carbon Agriculture is implemented with the integration of renewable energy and optimization of water usage. Agricultural wastes and residues are also converted to fertilizer and energy for the Smart Community.


3.Residential cycle

focuses on passive design for an environmentally friendly way to live with nature. The houses in the Smart Community use various types of natural or energy efficient material for construction to provide optimal energy savings.


4.Economic cycle

encourages low carbon community business with green technologies

such as coffee shop, convenient store, and restaurant. This could be the community guidelines for increasing income and improving the quality of life.


5.Environmental cycle

involves wastes management and utilization, environmental conservation, as well as community preparedness to be eco-friendly

and low carbon community.
